MISO is governed by an independent board of directors. Each member serves a three-year term and must meet certain requirements to ensure an independent and qualified board. The Transmission Owners' Agreement requires the board to meet at least quarterly.
The mission of the board is to foster MISO's long-term success and corporate sustainability in its responsibilities to all members, stakeholders, governmental authorities and customers.
Board members meet that goal by ensuring MISO management can perform its duties and achieve objectives per MISO's strategic plan and core values.
Members of the Board of Directors serve on committees that assist the Board in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities. Each committee has a charter outlining its specific responsibilities.
